Planning and building regulations for Cleckheaton
For homes in England, a new or replacement rooflight should achieve a U-value of 2.2 W/m²K or better in the horizontal position, under Approved Document L.
Planning-wise, a lantern on a new extension is judged as part of that extension, while one added to an existing roof can fall outside permitted development if it stands more than 150 mm proud.
Building regulations in Cleckheaton are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Cleckheaton
Will a square lantern leak at the top?
It should not when it is correctly installed and maintained. The apex is factory-designed to shed water; leaks usually come from the upstand or roof membrane rather than the lantern itself, which is why the upstand detail matters.
Can I have an opening vent in a pyramid lantern?
Some ranges can fit a vent in one of the triangular panes, others cannot. We will tell you on the quote whether your chosen range allows it.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Cleckheaton?
Yes. Delivery to Cleckheaton (BD19) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
Is it worth having solar-control glass in Cleckheaton?
With the midsummer sun about 59.7° high at noon, roof glass in Cleckheaton gets strong summer sun. Solar control is recommended for large or south-facing lanterns.
