Questions from Dungannon
Is a pyramid lantern more expensive than a rectangular one?
Per square metre it can cost slightly more, because every pane is a triangle and the apex needs a special joint. The difference is usually small next to the effect of size and glass choice.
Will a square lantern leak at the top?
It should not when it is correctly installed and maintained. The apex is factory-designed to shed water; leaks usually come from the upstand or roof membrane rather than the lantern itself, which is why the upstand detail matters.
Do I need planning permission for a roof lantern in Dungannon?
Often not, but it depends on the roof, the property and whether it is listed or in a conservation area. Check with your district council before ordering.
Is it worth having solar-control glass in Dungannon?
With the midsummer sun about 58.9° high at noon, roof glass in Dungannon gets strong summer sun. Solar control is recommended for large or south-facing lanterns.
