Four triangular panes meeting at a point: a pyramid lantern for square openings.
In midsummer the noon sun stands about 58.8° high over Cookstown, so roof glazing gets the full strength of it. That is why solar-control glass is worth considering on larger lanterns here.

Questions from Cookstown
Will a square lantern leak at the top?
It should not when it is correctly installed and maintained. The apex is factory-designed to shed water; leaks usually come from the upstand or roof membrane rather than the lantern itself, which is why the upstand detail matters.
What is the largest square lantern?
Ranges differ. Many go to around 3 m square, with extra hip bars on larger sizes. Tell us your kerb size and we will confirm which ranges can make it.
Do I need planning permission for a roof lantern in Cookstown?
Often not, but it depends on the roof, the property and whether it is listed or in a conservation area. Check with your district council before ordering.
Is it worth having solar-control glass in Cookstown?
With the midsummer sun about 58.8° high at noon, roof glass in Cookstown gets strong summer sun. Solar control is recommended for large or south-facing lanterns.
