Self-cleaning glass roof lanterns for Skelmersdale homes
A coated outer pane that breaks down dirt in daylight and lets rain wash it away.
In midsummer the noon sun stands about 59.9° high over Skelmersdale, so roof glazing gets the full strength of it. That is why solar-control glass is worth considering on larger lanterns here.

Planning and building regulations for Skelmersdale
In England, building regulations energy guidance sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new and replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured horizontally.
On a permitted development extension the lantern counts towards the extension's height; on an existing roof, a rooflight projecting more than 150 mm may need planning permission.
Building regulations in Skelmersdale are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Skelmersdale
Do I still need to clean self-cleaning glass?
Occasionally. It keeps the glass cleaner for longer, but heavy dirt and droppings still need a gentle rinse, especially in dry spells.
Does it work under trees?
Less well. Sap and leaf debris build up faster than daylight and rain can deal with them, so lanterns under trees need more regular rinsing.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Skelmersdale?
Yes. Delivery to Skelmersdale (WN8) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
Who checks building regulations for a lantern in Skelmersdale?
Your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. For a lantern in a new extension it forms part of the extension's approval; replacements in existing homes have their own rules.
