Planning and building regulations for Rugeley
In England, building regulations energy guidance sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new and replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured horizontally.
On a permitted development extension the lantern counts towards the extension's height; on an existing roof, a rooflight projecting more than 150 mm may need planning permission.
Building regulations in Rugeley are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Rugeley
Are contemporary lanterns weaker?
They are engineered for the sizes they are sold in. That is exactly why their maximum sizes are often smaller: the frame is slimmer, so each range has its own limits.
Do contemporary lanterns cost more?
Usually a little more per size than a standard range, because the bigger glass units cost more to make and handle.
Who checks building regulations for a lantern in Rugeley?
Your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. For a lantern in a new extension it forms part of the extension's approval; replacements in existing homes have their own rules.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Rugeley?
Yes. Delivery to Rugeley (WS15) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
