Planning and building regulations for Lichfield
In England, building regulations energy guidance sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new and replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured horizontally.
On a permitted development extension the lantern counts towards the extension's height; on an existing roof, a rooflight projecting more than 150 mm may need planning permission.
Building regulations in Lichfield are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Lichfield
Can I have a contemporary lantern in white?
Yes, though most buyers choose grey or black because the slimmer frame is the point and dark frames disappear against the sky.
Are contemporary lanterns weaker?
They are engineered for the sizes they are sold in. That is exactly why their maximum sizes are often smaller: the frame is slimmer, so each range has its own limits.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Lichfield?
Yes. Delivery to Lichfield (WS13) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
Is it worth having solar-control glass in Lichfield?
With the midsummer sun about 60.8° high at noon, roof glass in Lichfield gets strong summer sun. Solar control is recommended for large or south-facing lanterns.
