Planning and building regulations for Colwyn Bay
Wales sets its own energy standards for rooflights in the Welsh Approved Document L, so the Welsh figures apply rather than England's.
Check the Welsh permitted development rules with your council before ordering, particularly in conservation areas.
Building regulations in Colwyn Bay are checked by your local authority building control team. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work in Wales too. A competent person scheme installer can self-certify; otherwise building control should be notified.

Questions from Colwyn Bay
Is a contemporary lantern the same as a flat rooflight?
No. A contemporary lantern still has sloping glass and a ridge or apex; it simply has slimmer frames and fewer bars. A flat rooflight is a single, nearly flat pane of glass on an upstand.
Do contemporary lanterns cost more?
Usually a little more per size than a standard range, because the bigger glass units cost more to make and handle.
Can you fit a roof lantern in Colwyn Bay?
We can quote for fitting where we have cover. Send your postcode and photos of the roof and kerb, and we will confirm before quoting.
How quickly can I get a roof lantern in Colwyn Bay?
Stock sizes are typically ready in 5–10 working days, made-to-measure in 3–4 weeks, plus delivery. Your quote gives the date for LL29.
