Planning and building regulations for Halesowen
England's Approved Document L caps the U-value of new or replacement rooflights in existing homes at 2.2 W/m²K, calculated with the glass horizontal.
Planning-wise, a lantern on a new extension is judged as part of that extension, while one added to an existing roof can fall outside permitted development if it stands more than 150 mm proud.
Building regulations in Halesowen are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Halesowen
What black is it?
Usually RAL 9005. If your doors are a different black, such as RAL 9004 or 9011, give us the code.
Is a black lantern too dark inside?
The frame is a small part of what you see; the glass dominates. Black frames inside create a graphic grid that many people like. If you want a softer look, choose white inside.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Halesowen?
Yes. Delivery to Halesowen (B63) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
Do I need planning permission for a roof lantern in Halesowen?
Often not, but it depends on the roof, the property and whether it is listed or in a conservation area. Check with your district, borough or unitary council before ordering.
