Planning and building regulations for Inverness
Scottish building standards, including Section 6 on energy, apply here, and a building warrant is normally needed for extensions and structural alterations.
Householder permitted development in Scotland has its own rules, and listed buildings and conservation areas need extra care.
Building regulations in Inverness are checked by your local authority building standards (verifier) service. Some like-for-like replacement work does not need a building warrant but must still meet the building standards. Your council's building standards service can confirm.
