Planning and building regulations for Caerphilly
Wales sets its own energy standards for rooflights in the Welsh Approved Document L, so the Welsh figures apply rather than England's.
Check the Welsh permitted development rules with your council before ordering, particularly in conservation areas.
Building regulations in Caerphilly are checked by your local authority building control team. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work in Wales too. A competent person scheme installer can self-certify; otherwise building control should be notified.

Questions from Caerphilly
How accurate do my measurements need to be?
Accurate to the millimetre on the outside of the kerb, measured at several points. Kerbs are rarely perfectly square, so measure both diagonals too. Our measuring guide shows how.
Can I return a bespoke lantern?
No. Goods made to your specification are excluded from the 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. Your other legal rights, for example if the lantern is faulty, are not affected.
Who checks building regulations for a lantern in Caerphilly?
Your local authority building control team. For a lantern in a new extension it forms part of the extension's approval; replacements in existing homes have their own rules.
Can you fit a roof lantern in Caerphilly?
We can quote for fitting where we have cover. Send your postcode and photos of the roof and kerb, and we will confirm before quoting.
