Planning and building regulations for Chorley
For homes in England, a new or replacement rooflight should achieve a U-value of 2.2 W/m²K or better in the horizontal position, under Approved Document L.
Planning-wise, a lantern on a new extension is judged as part of that extension, while one added to an existing roof can fall outside permitted development if it stands more than 150 mm proud.
Building regulations in Chorley are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Chorley
Can the inside be a different grey?
Yes. Any combination is possible on most aluminium ranges; non-stock colours carry a small surcharge.
Is anthracite grey the same as RAL 7016?
Yes. Some suppliers call it slate grey or charcoal grey, which can cause confusion, so always check the RAL number.
Can you fit a roof lantern in Chorley?
We can quote for fitting where we have cover. Send your postcode and photos of the roof and kerb, and we will confirm before quoting.
Is it worth having solar-control glass in Chorley?
With the midsummer sun about 59.8° high at noon, roof glass in Chorley gets strong summer sun. Solar control is recommended for large or south-facing lanterns.
