Planning and building regulations for Prestwich
In England, building regulations energy guidance sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new and replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured horizontally.
On a permitted development extension the lantern counts towards the extension's height; on an existing roof, a rooflight projecting more than 150 mm may need planning permission.
Building regulations in Prestwich are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Prestwich
Are uPVC lanterns as good as aluminium?
They do the same job at a lower price, with bulkier frames and fewer colour and size options. For most showpiece extensions aluminium is worth the extra.
Will white uPVC yellow over time?
Modern uPVC profiles are UV-stabilised and should stay white with normal cleaning. Very old lanterns, especially with polycarbonate panels, are the ones that discolour.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Prestwich?
Yes. Delivery to Prestwich (M25) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
How quickly can I get a roof lantern in Prestwich?
Stock sizes are typically ready in 5–10 working days, made-to-measure in 3–4 weeks, plus delivery. Your quote gives the date for M25.
