In Scotland, energy standards come from Section 6 of the domestic Technical Handbook, and most extensions need a building warrant before work starts.
Householder permitted development in Scotland has its own rules, and listed buildings and conservation areas need extra care.
Building regulations in Dalkeith are checked by your local authority building standards (verifier) service. Some like-for-like replacement work does not need a building warrant but must still meet the building standards. Your council's building standards service can confirm.

Questions from Dalkeith
Can I get a grey uPVC lantern?
Some ranges offer foiled colours. The choice is narrower than aluminium.
Will white uPVC yellow over time?
Modern uPVC profiles are UV-stabilised and should stay white with normal cleaning. Very old lanterns, especially with polycarbonate panels, are the ones that discolour.
How quickly can I get a roof lantern in Dalkeith?
Stock sizes are typically ready in 5–10 working days, made-to-measure in 3–4 weeks, plus delivery. Your quote gives the date for EH22.
Do I need planning permission for a roof lantern in Dalkeith?
Often not, but it depends on the roof, the property and whether it is listed or in a conservation area. Check with your council before ordering.
