Planning and building regulations for Rotherham
In England, building regulations energy guidance sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new and replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured horizontally.
On a permitted development extension the lantern counts towards the extension's height; on an existing roof, a rooflight projecting more than 150 mm may need planning permission.
Building regulations in Rotherham are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Rotherham
Is a traditional lantern harder to clean?
There are more bars, so there are more edges for dirt to collect along. Self-cleaning glass helps, but a gentle rinse once or twice a year is still worthwhile.
Can I have cresting without finials, or the other way round?
Usually yes. Ranges treat cresting and finials as options. Tell us what you want and the quote will list each item.
Who checks building regulations for a lantern in Rotherham?
Your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. For a lantern in a new extension it forms part of the extension's approval; replacements in existing homes have their own rules.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Rotherham?
Yes. Delivery to Rotherham (S60) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
