Planning and building regulations for Caernarfon
Wales sets its own energy standards for rooflights in the Welsh Approved Document L, so the Welsh figures apply rather than England's.
Permitted development rules in Wales are set separately, so check with your council, especially for listed buildings and conservation areas.
Building regulations in Caernarfon are checked by your local authority building control team. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work in Wales too. A competent person scheme installer can self-certify; otherwise building control should be notified.

Questions from Caernarfon
Will a traditional lantern need planning permission?
The style does not change the planning position; size, height and location do. Listed buildings and conservation areas are the main cases where consent is more likely to be needed.
Can I have cresting without finials, or the other way round?
Usually yes. Ranges treat cresting and finials as options. Tell us what you want and the quote will list each item.
Who checks building regulations for a lantern in Caernarfon?
Your local authority building control team. For a lantern in a new extension it forms part of the extension's approval; replacements in existing homes have their own rules.
Is it worth having solar-control glass in Caernarfon?
With the midsummer sun about 60.3° high at noon, roof glass in Caernarfon gets strong summer sun. Solar control is recommended for large or south-facing lanterns.
