Planning and building regulations for Gloucester
For homes in England, a new or replacement rooflight should achieve a U-value of 2.2 W/m²K or better in the horizontal position, under Approved Document L.
Lanterns on permitted development extensions are part of the extension's height limits. Adding one to an existing roof is different: over 150 mm of projection can mean a planning application.
Building regulations in Gloucester are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Gloucester
Do you deliver to building sites?
Yes, to mainland Britain addresses, with Northern Ireland, the Highlands and islands by arrangement. Tell us about access, parking restrictions and whether a forklift or tail lift will be needed.
What if the lantern arrives damaged?
Check the packaging and glass on delivery where you can, note any damage on the delivery paperwork and tell us straight away with photos. Goods remain our responsibility until they are delivered to you.
Do I need planning permission for a roof lantern in Gloucester?
Often not, but it depends on the roof, the property and whether it is listed or in a conservation area. Check with your district, borough or unitary council before ordering.
Can you fit a roof lantern in Gloucester?
We can quote for fitting where we have cover. Send your postcode and photos of the roof and kerb, and we will confirm before quoting.
