Planning and building regulations for Merthyr Tydfil
Wales sets its own energy standards for rooflights in the Welsh Approved Document L, so the Welsh figures apply rather than England's.
Permitted development rules in Wales are set separately, so check with your council, especially for listed buildings and conservation areas.
Building regulations in Merthyr Tydfil are checked by your local authority building control team. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work in Wales too. A competent person scheme installer can self-certify; otherwise building control should be notified.

Questions from Merthyr Tydfil
Will a square lantern leak at the top?
It should not when it is correctly installed and maintained. The apex is factory-designed to shed water; leaks usually come from the upstand or roof membrane rather than the lantern itself, which is why the upstand detail matters.
Can I have an opening vent in a pyramid lantern?
Some ranges can fit a vent in one of the triangular panes, others cannot. We will tell you on the quote whether your chosen range allows it.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Merthyr Tydfil?
Yes. Delivery to Merthyr Tydfil (CF47) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
Is it worth having solar-control glass in Merthyr Tydfil?
With the midsummer sun about 61.7° high at noon, roof glass in Merthyr Tydfil gets strong summer sun. Solar control is recommended for large or south-facing lanterns.
