Planning and building regulations for Stalybridge
For homes in England, a new or replacement rooflight should achieve a U-value of 2.2 W/m²K or better in the horizontal position, under Approved Document L.
On a permitted development extension the lantern counts towards the extension's height; on an existing roof, a rooflight projecting more than 150 mm may need planning permission.
Building regulations in Stalybridge are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Stalybridge
Will a square lantern leak at the top?
It should not when it is correctly installed and maintained. The apex is factory-designed to shed water; leaks usually come from the upstand or roof membrane rather than the lantern itself, which is why the upstand detail matters.
What is the largest square lantern?
Ranges differ. Many go to around 3 m square, with extra hip bars on larger sizes. Tell us your kerb size and we will confirm which ranges can make it.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Stalybridge?
Yes. Delivery to Stalybridge (SK15) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
Is it worth having solar-control glass in Stalybridge?
With the midsummer sun about 60.0° high at noon, roof glass in Stalybridge gets strong summer sun. Solar control is recommended for large or south-facing lanterns.
