Square roof lanterns for Notting Hill homes
Four triangular panes meeting at a point: a pyramid lantern for square openings.
At 51.51°N, Notting Hill sees roughly 7h 49m of daylight in late December and 16h 38m in late June. A lantern faces the bright overhead sky all year, so it brings in useful light even on the short, grey days.

Planning and building regulations for Notting Hill
In England, building regulations energy guidance sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new and replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured horizontally.
Lanterns on permitted development extensions are part of the extension's height limits. Adding one to an existing roof is different: over 150 mm of projection can mean a planning application.
Building regulations in Notting Hill are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Notting Hill
Will a square lantern leak at the top?
It should not when it is correctly installed and maintained. The apex is factory-designed to shed water; leaks usually come from the upstand or roof membrane rather than the lantern itself, which is why the upstand detail matters.
Can I have an opening vent in a pyramid lantern?
Some ranges can fit a vent in one of the triangular panes, others cannot. We will tell you on the quote whether your chosen range allows it.
How quickly can I get a roof lantern in Notting Hill?
Stock sizes are typically ready in 5–10 working days, made-to-measure in 3–4 weeks, plus delivery. Your quote gives the date for W11.
Is it worth having solar-control glass in Notting Hill?
With the midsummer sun about 61.9° high at noon, roof glass in Notting Hill gets strong summer sun. Solar control is recommended for large or south-facing lanterns.
