Square roof lanterns for Bournemouth homes
Four triangular panes meeting at a point: a pyramid lantern for square openings.
On the shortest day Bournemouth gets about 7h 57m of daylight, with the sun only 15.8° above the horizon at noon. Light from the sky overhead is the brightest available in winter, which is exactly what a roof lantern collects.
- Stock colours or any RAL on request

Planning and building regulations for Bournemouth
England's Approved Document L caps the U-value of new or replacement rooflights in existing homes at 2.2 W/m²K, calculated with the glass horizontal.
Lanterns on permitted development extensions are part of the extension's height limits. Adding one to an existing roof is different: over 150 mm of projection can mean a planning application.
Building regulations in Bournemouth are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Bournemouth
Is a pyramid lantern more expensive than a rectangular one?
Per square metre it can cost slightly more, because every pane is a triangle and the apex needs a special joint. The difference is usually small next to the effect of size and glass choice.
Will a square lantern leak at the top?
It should not when it is correctly installed and maintained. The apex is factory-designed to shed water; leaks usually come from the upstand or roof membrane rather than the lantern itself, which is why the upstand detail matters.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Bournemouth?
Yes. Delivery to Bournemouth (BH1) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
How quickly can I get a roof lantern in Bournemouth?
Stock sizes are typically ready in 5–10 working days, made-to-measure in 3–4 weeks, plus delivery. Your quote gives the date for BH1.
