Planning and building regulations for Wigston
For homes in England, a new or replacement rooflight should achieve a U-value of 2.2 W/m²K or better in the horizontal position, under Approved Document L.
Planning-wise, a lantern on a new extension is judged as part of that extension, while one added to an existing roof can fall outside permitted development if it stands more than 150 mm proud.
Building regulations in Wigston are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Wigston
Can the coating be damaged?
Yes, by abrasive cleaning, some chemicals and silicone. Follow the care instructions supplied with your lantern.
Is self-cleaning glass the same as solar-control glass?
No. Self-cleaning is a coating that sheds dirt; solar control reduces heat gain. Many lantern units combine both.
Who checks building regulations for a lantern in Wigston?
Your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. For a lantern in a new extension it forms part of the extension's approval; replacements in existing homes have their own rules.
How quickly can I get a roof lantern in Wigston?
Stock sizes are typically ready in 5–10 working days, made-to-measure in 3–4 weeks, plus delivery. Your quote gives the date for LE18.
