Planning and building regulations for Gosport
In England, building regulations energy guidance sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new and replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured horizontally.
Lanterns on permitted development extensions are part of the extension's height limits. Adding one to an existing roof is different: over 150 mm of projection can mean a planning application.
Building regulations in Gosport are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Gosport
Does it work under trees?
Less well. Sap and leaf debris build up faster than daylight and rain can deal with them, so lanterns under trees need more regular rinsing.
Is self-cleaning glass the same as solar-control glass?
No. Self-cleaning is a coating that sheds dirt; solar control reduces heat gain. Many lantern units combine both.
Who checks building regulations for a lantern in Gosport?
Your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. For a lantern in a new extension it forms part of the extension's approval; replacements in existing homes have their own rules.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Gosport?
Yes. Delivery to Gosport (PO12) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
