Planning and building regulations for Shepherds Bush
England's Approved Document L caps the U-value of new or replacement rooflights in existing homes at 2.2 W/m²K, calculated with the glass horizontal.
Lanterns on permitted development extensions are part of the extension's height limits. Adding one to an existing roof is different: over 150 mm of projection can mean a planning application.
Building regulations in Shepherds Bush are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Shepherds Bush
Can the coating be damaged?
Yes, by abrasive cleaning, some chemicals and silicone. Follow the care instructions supplied with your lantern.
Do I still need to clean self-cleaning glass?
Occasionally. It keeps the glass cleaner for longer, but heavy dirt and droppings still need a gentle rinse, especially in dry spells.
Who checks building regulations for a lantern in Shepherds Bush?
Your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. For a lantern in a new extension it forms part of the extension's approval; replacements in existing homes have their own rules.
How quickly can I get a roof lantern in Shepherds Bush?
Stock sizes are typically ready in 5–10 working days, made-to-measure in 3–4 weeks, plus delivery. Your quote gives the date for W12.
