Self-cleaning glass roof lanterns for Bridlington homes
A coated outer pane that breaks down dirt in daylight and lets rain wash it away.
In midsummer the noon sun stands about 59.4° high over Bridlington, so roof glazing gets the full strength of it. That is why solar-control glass is worth considering on larger lanterns here.

Planning and building regulations for Bridlington
In England, building regulations energy guidance sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new and replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured horizontally.
Lanterns on permitted development extensions are part of the extension's height limits. Adding one to an existing roof is different: over 150 mm of projection can mean a planning application.
Building regulations in Bridlington are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Bridlington
Is self-cleaning glass the same as solar-control glass?
No. Self-cleaning is a coating that sheds dirt; solar control reduces heat gain. Many lantern units combine both.
Does it work under trees?
Less well. Sap and leaf debris build up faster than daylight and rain can deal with them, so lanterns under trees need more regular rinsing.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Bridlington?
Yes. Delivery to Bridlington (YO16) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
Who checks building regulations for a lantern in Bridlington?
Your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. For a lantern in a new extension it forms part of the extension's approval; replacements in existing homes have their own rules.
