Questions from Newport (Gwent)
What is the most common rectangular roof lantern size?
Sizes of 1000 × 2000 mm and 1500 × 2500 mm are common standard sizes for kitchen and dining extensions, but the right size is the one that matches your kerb. If your kerb is not built yet, our sizes guide helps you pick a standard size first.
Can a rectangular lantern be made to an exact size?
Yes. Made-to-measure lanterns are built to the external kerb size you give us, usually in 10 mm steps within the range's limits. Made-to-measure takes longer than a stock size and cannot be cancelled once ordered, so measure twice.
Do I need planning permission for a roof lantern in Newport (Gwent)?
Often not, but it depends on the roof, the property and whether it is listed or in a conservation area. Check with your county or county borough council before ordering.
Is it worth having solar-control glass in Newport (Gwent)?
With the midsummer sun about 61.9° high at noon, roof glass in Newport (Gwent) gets strong summer sun. Solar control is recommended for large or south-facing lanterns.
