Rectangular roof lanterns for Annan homes
The classic double-hipped lantern: a ridge, four sloping sides and the most size choice.
In midsummer the noon sun stands about 58.5° high over Annan, so roof glazing gets the full strength of it. That is why solar-control glass is worth considering on larger lanterns here.
- Stock anthracite, black or white, or any RAL
- Ridge along the long axis, four glazed slopes
- Standard sizes or made to your kerb

Planning and building regulations for Annan
Here the Building (Scotland) Regulations and the domestic Technical Handbook set the standards, with a building warrant usually required for extension work.
Planning in Scotland follows the Scottish permitted development order; your council confirms whether your lantern needs consent.
Building regulations in Annan are checked by your local authority building standards (verifier) service. Some like-for-like replacement work does not need a building warrant but must still meet the building standards. Your council's building standards service can confirm.

Questions from Annan
Which way should the ridge run?
The ridge runs along the longer side. On a square opening there is no ridge and the lantern becomes a pyramid.
Can a rectangular lantern be made to an exact size?
Yes. Made-to-measure lanterns are built to the external kerb size you give us, usually in 10 mm steps within the range's limits. Made-to-measure takes longer than a stock size and cannot be cancelled once ordered, so measure twice.
Do I need planning permission for a roof lantern in Annan?
Often not, but it depends on the roof, the property and whether it is listed or in a conservation area. Check with your council before ordering.
Can you fit a roof lantern in Annan?
We can quote for fitting where we have cover. Send your postcode and photos of the roof and kerb, and we will confirm before quoting.
