Planning and building regulations for Wick
In Scotland, energy standards come from Section 6 of the domestic Technical Handbook, and most extensions need a building warrant before work starts.
Your council will confirm whether your lantern is permitted development under Scotland's rules, particularly for listed buildings.
Building regulations in Wick are checked by your local authority building standards (verifier) service. Some like-for-like replacement work does not need a building warrant but must still meet the building standards. Your council's building standards service can confirm.

Questions from Wick
Can I have a contemporary lantern in white?
Yes, though most buyers choose grey or black because the slimmer frame is the point and dark frames disappear against the sky.
Do contemporary lanterns cost more?
Usually a little more per size than a standard range, because the bigger glass units cost more to make and handle.
Who checks building regulations for a lantern in Wick?
Your local authority building standards (verifier) service. For a lantern in a new extension it forms part of the extension's approval; replacements in existing homes have their own rules.
Is it worth having solar-control glass in Wick?
With the midsummer sun about 55.0° high at noon, roof glass in Wick gets strong summer sun. Solar control is recommended for large or south-facing lanterns.
