Slim frames, fewer bars and a lower profile for a cleaner view of the sky.
At 55.9°N, Livingston sees roughly 6h 58m of daylight in late December and 17h 36m in late June. A lantern faces the bright overhead sky all year, so it brings in useful light even on the short, grey days.

Planning and building regulations for Livingston
In Scotland, energy standards come from Section 6 of the domestic Technical Handbook, and most extensions need a building warrant before work starts.
Your council will confirm whether your lantern is permitted development under Scotland's rules, particularly for listed buildings.
Building regulations in Livingston are checked by your local authority building standards (verifier) service. Some like-for-like replacement work does not need a building warrant but must still meet the building standards. Your council's building standards service can confirm.

Questions from Livingston
Can I have a contemporary lantern in white?
Yes, though most buyers choose grey or black because the slimmer frame is the point and dark frames disappear against the sky.
Do contemporary lanterns cost more?
Usually a little more per size than a standard range, because the bigger glass units cost more to make and handle.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Livingston?
Yes. Delivery to Livingston (EH54) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
How quickly can I get a roof lantern in Livingston?
Stock sizes are typically ready in 5–10 working days, made-to-measure in 3–4 weeks, plus delivery. Your quote gives the date for EH54.
