Planning and building regulations for Penzance
In England, building regulations energy guidance sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new and replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured horizontally.
On a permitted development extension the lantern counts towards the extension's height; on an existing roof, a rooflight projecting more than 150 mm may need planning permission.
Building regulations in Penzance are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Penzance
Can I have a contemporary lantern in white?
Yes, though most buyers choose grey or black because the slimmer frame is the point and dark frames disappear against the sky.
Do contemporary lanterns cost more?
Usually a little more per size than a standard range, because the bigger glass units cost more to make and handle.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Penzance?
Yes. Delivery to Penzance (TR18) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
Who checks building regulations for a lantern in Penzance?
Your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. For a lantern in a new extension it forms part of the extension's approval; replacements in existing homes have their own rules.
