Planning and building regulations in Warwickshire
England's Approved Document L caps the U-value of new or replacement rooflights in existing homes at 2.2 W/m²K, calculated with the glass horizontal.
On a permitted development extension the lantern counts towards the extension's height; on an existing roof, a rooflight projecting more than 150 mm may need planning permission.
Building regulations are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Black roof lanterns in Warwickshire: questions
What black is it?
Usually RAL 9005. If your doors are a different black, such as RAL 9004 or 9011, give us the code.
Does black get hotter?
The frame surface does, but the effect on the room is small next to the choice of glass.
Is a black lantern too dark inside?
The frame is a small part of what you see; the glass dominates. Black frames inside create a graphic grid that many people like. If you want a softer look, choose white inside.
How quickly can I get a roof lantern in Warwickshire?
Stock sizes are typically ready in 5–10 working days, made-to-measure in 3–4 weeks, plus delivery. Your quote gives the date for Warwickshire.
