Planning and building regulations for Coulsdon
In England, building regulations energy guidance sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new and replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured horizontally.
On a permitted development extension the lantern counts towards the extension's height; on an existing roof, a rooflight projecting more than 150 mm may need planning permission.
Building regulations in Coulsdon are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Coulsdon
Is a black lantern too dark inside?
The frame is a small part of what you see; the glass dominates. Black frames inside create a graphic grid that many people like. If you want a softer look, choose white inside.
Does black get hotter?
The frame surface does, but the effect on the room is small next to the choice of glass.
Who checks building regulations for a lantern in Coulsdon?
Your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. For a lantern in a new extension it forms part of the extension's approval; replacements in existing homes have their own rules.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Coulsdon?
Yes. Delivery to Coulsdon (CR5) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
