Planning and building regulations for Newtown
Wales sets its own energy standards for rooflights in the Welsh Approved Document L, so the Welsh figures apply rather than England's.
Check the Welsh permitted development rules with your council before ordering, particularly in conservation areas.
Building regulations in Newtown are checked by your local authority building control team. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work in Wales too. A competent person scheme installer can self-certify; otherwise building control should be notified.

Questions from Newtown
Can I return a bespoke lantern?
No. Goods made to your specification are excluded from the 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. Your other legal rights, for example if the lantern is faulty, are not affected.
Will I see a drawing before it is made?
For made-to-measure and special shapes, yes: the order is based on a drawing you approve, so the size you check is the size that gets made.
Do I need planning permission for a roof lantern in Newtown?
Often not, but it depends on the roof, the property and whether it is listed or in a conservation area. Check with your county or county borough council before ordering.
Can you fit a roof lantern in Newtown?
We can quote for fitting where we have cover. Send your postcode and photos of the roof and kerb, and we will confirm before quoting.
