Planning and building regulations for Greenford
In England, building regulations energy guidance sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new and replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured horizontally.
Lanterns on permitted development extensions are part of the extension's height limits. Adding one to an existing roof is different: over 150 mm of projection can mean a planning application.
Building regulations in Greenford are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Greenford
Can I return a bespoke lantern?
No. Goods made to your specification are excluded from the 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. Your other legal rights, for example if the lantern is faulty, are not affected.
Will I see a drawing before it is made?
For made-to-measure and special shapes, yes: the order is based on a drawing you approve, so the size you check is the size that gets made.
Is it worth having solar-control glass in Greenford?
With the midsummer sun about 61.9° high at noon, roof glass in Greenford gets strong summer sun. Solar control is recommended for large or south-facing lanterns.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Greenford?
Yes. Delivery to Greenford (UB6) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
