Planning and building regulations for Buxton
For homes in England, a new or replacement rooflight should achieve a U-value of 2.2 W/m²K or better in the horizontal position, under Approved Document L.
Lanterns on permitted development extensions are part of the extension's height limits. Adding one to an existing roof is different: over 150 mm of projection can mean a planning application.
Building regulations in Buxton are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Buxton
How accurate do my measurements need to be?
Accurate to the millimetre on the outside of the kerb, measured at several points. Kerbs are rarely perfectly square, so measure both diagonals too. Our measuring guide shows how.
Can I return a bespoke lantern?
No. Goods made to your specification are excluded from the 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. Your other legal rights, for example if the lantern is faulty, are not affected.
Is it worth having solar-control glass in Buxton?
With the midsummer sun about 60.2° high at noon, roof glass in Buxton gets strong summer sun. Solar control is recommended for large or south-facing lanterns.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Buxton?
Yes. Delivery to Buxton (SK17) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
