Planning and building regulations for Whitehaven
In England, building regulations energy guidance sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new and replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured horizontally.
Lanterns on permitted development extensions are part of the extension's height limits. Adding one to an existing roof is different: over 150 mm of projection can mean a planning application.
Building regulations in Whitehaven are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Whitehaven
Do bespoke lanterns cost much more?
For simple rectangles the premium over a stock size is usually modest. Special shapes cost more because each one is engineered individually.
Can I return a bespoke lantern?
No. Goods made to your specification are excluded from the 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. Your other legal rights, for example if the lantern is faulty, are not affected.
Is it worth having solar-control glass in Whitehaven?
With the midsummer sun about 58.9° high at noon, roof glass in Whitehaven gets strong summer sun. Solar control is recommended for large or south-facing lanterns.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Whitehaven?
Yes. Delivery to Whitehaven (CA28) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
