Anthracite grey roof lanterns for Dudley homes
RAL 7016 anthracite grey, a widely chosen colour to match grey doors and windows.
In midsummer the noon sun stands about 60.9° high over Dudley, so roof glazing gets the full strength of it. That is why solar-control glass is worth considering on larger lanterns here.

Planning and building regulations for Dudley
In England, building regulations energy guidance sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new and replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured horizontally.
Planning-wise, a lantern on a new extension is judged as part of that extension, while one added to an existing roof can fall outside permitted development if it stands more than 150 mm proud.
Building regulations in Dudley are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Dudley
Is anthracite grey the same as RAL 7016?
Yes. Some suppliers call it slate grey or charcoal grey, which can cause confusion, so always check the RAL number.
Can the inside be a different grey?
Yes. Any combination is possible on most aluminium ranges; non-stock colours carry a small surcharge.
Can you fit a roof lantern in Dudley?
We can quote for fitting where we have cover. Send your postcode and photos of the roof and kerb, and we will confirm before quoting.
Do I need planning permission for a roof lantern in Dudley?
Often not, but it depends on the roof, the property and whether it is listed or in a conservation area. Check with your district, borough or unitary council before ordering.
