Planning and building regulations for Skegness
In England, building regulations energy guidance sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new and replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured horizontally.
On a permitted development extension the lantern counts towards the extension's height; on an existing roof, a rooflight projecting more than 150 mm may need planning permission.
Building regulations in Skegness are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Skegness
Will anthracite get hot in the sun?
Dark frames absorb more heat than white, but lantern frames are designed for it. The bigger effect on room temperature is the glass, which is why solar-control glass matters on south-facing roofs.
Is anthracite grey the same as RAL 7016?
Yes. Some suppliers call it slate grey or charcoal grey, which can cause confusion, so always check the RAL number.
How quickly can I get a roof lantern in Skegness?
Stock sizes are typically ready in 5–10 working days, made-to-measure in 3–4 weeks, plus delivery. Your quote gives the date for PE25.
Who checks building regulations for a lantern in Skegness?
Your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. For a lantern in a new extension it forms part of the extension's approval; replacements in existing homes have their own rules.
