Planning and building regulations for Thatcham
In England, building regulations energy guidance sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new and replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured horizontally.
Lanterns on permitted development extensions are part of the extension's height limits. Adding one to an existing roof is different: over 150 mm of projection can mean a planning application.
Building regulations in Thatcham are checked by your local authority building control team or a registered building control approver. Replacing a rooflight in an existing home is building work. Installers registered with a competent person scheme can self-certify; otherwise building control must be involved.

Questions from Thatcham
Is anthracite grey the same as RAL 7016?
Yes. Some suppliers call it slate grey or charcoal grey, which can cause confusion, so always check the RAL number.
Does anthracite show dirt?
Less than white. Dust and pollen are more visible on dark gloss finishes, which is why most grey lanterns use a matt or textured finish.
Do you deliver roof lanterns to Thatcham?
Yes. Delivery to Thatcham (RG18) is quoted for your exact postcode and confirmed in writing on your quote, together with the lead time.
Can you fit a roof lantern in Thatcham?
We can quote for fitting where we have cover. Send your postcode and photos of the roof and kerb, and we will confirm before quoting.
